Through publishing of Books and Journals, and making them readily available and accessible online –MDPPL seeks to increase understanding of scientific and academic issues at all levels, to promote research and thinking towards scholarly and professional inquiry into the nature of society and the world.

Guidelines for authors planning to submit a book proposal
The following list is intended both as a guide to the points the author(s) should consider when planning a book, and to the information we need in order to consider a new book proposal.

Aims Background: Please describe the background to the book (e.g., is it derived from research, practice or teaching).

Rationale: A brief description of the rationale behind the proposal. What are the books main themes and objectives?

Approach: Description and reasons for the approach adopted. Features: What aspects of the proposal would you emphasise as being of most importance? Are there any deliberate omissions? Any other features you would like take into account.

Market Readership: Who is the book primarily aimed at? Who will buy it? Who will read it? Would this subject have international appeal? If so, where? Is the subject area of the proposal widely taught?

Level: What level of ability is assumed of the reader undergraduate, postgraduate, researcher, teacher or professional. To what level does the book take the reader?

Courses: Is the book intended as a main text, supplementary text, reference only or as a more general book? For which taught courses would you hope to see it recommended?

Competing Works: Which existing books in the area are closest to your proposal and how do they compare? How would your book be different, similar, or, of course, superior. Please list the unique features of your proposed book.

Detailed Synopsis Outline: Provisional list of contents and working title, including chapter headings and subheadings and paragraph-length chapter descriptions explaining what you intend to cover in each chapter. It is important to provide sufficient detail to give an accurate impression of the nature of your manuscript. We prefer, initially, that you submit your prospectus, outline, and one or two sample chapters rather than the entire manuscript.

Length: Estimated overall length including references and footnotes.

Schedule: Is the first draft completed? When do you expect to have your final manuscript ready?

Illustrations: How many tables, diagrams or illustrations will there be?M

The following are the issues which any journal proposal should address.

Aims and Scope What are the aims and scope of the journal?
Who is it for, at what intellectual level and what disciplines?
What disciplines or sub disciplines will be covered?
How international will the journal be and how will this be reflected in the editorial objectives.
Rationale for the Journal
Why is the journal needed?
What is the background to the proposal in terms of the current and future development of the field?
How will the journal relate to relevant existing journals and what will your journal offer that these do not?
How confident are you of not only finding an audience for the journal, but also of generating sufficient high quality contributions?

Editorial Board and Administration Who would be the journals editors?
Whom would you invite to be members of the editorial board?
How is the administration of the journal proposed to be handled and what role, if any, do you see the editorial board playing in this process?

Format of the Journal
Please provide some details of how you envisage the content and structure of the journal.
What will be the balance between theoretical, empirical/research-based and practice-oriented papers?
What will the journal feature for example book reviews, review essays and special thematic issues?
How many issues would you envisage annually?

Market Profile/Potential
Who, and in what fields, would subscribe to the journal? Could you approximately quantify your perception of the size of the market in terms of potential subscribers both individual and institutional?
Would the market be easy to reach? For example, which associations/societies would the readership belong to?
